For many newspapers, the letters to the editor page is the second most read section of the paper after the front page. People want to know what their neighbors think. That's why we're encouraging you to submit letters about what you think of Mitch McConnell's pay-to-play politics and his opposition to campaign finance reform. Do you think Big Money Mitch is using his clout to help regular everyday Kentuckians, or is he using it to favor his donors and the special interests in Washington?
Write a letter! We've provided a listing of Kentucky papers below with contact info about how to send a letter to the editor. In addition, here are some helpful hints:
- Keep your letter short, concise, and to-the-point. Editorial pages are flooded with letters these days, so you need to keep your comments about Mitch McConnell's pay-to-play politics to less than 150 or so words. That's about two paragraphs.
- Relate your letter to something you saw in the paper. Newspapers want to know that you are a reader of the paper you're writing to -- that makes sense. Refer to an article that you agree with, or don't. Raise an issue that a reporter missed when covering McConnell.
- Be rational and make an argument. Well-reasoned letters without nastiness (I know that might be hard) about how McConnell uses his clout for his donors and why we need campaign finance reform are more likely to get printed than those that are full of vitriol.
Send us what gets printed -- let us know at info@bigmoneymitch.com that your letter made it in. We also know the following list is not comprehensive -- please let us know other papers you'd like to have us include.
Kentucky Enquirer (Cincinnati Suburbs)
Central Kentucky News Journal (Campbellsville)
